The Rooster is the Don Quixote of the Chinese cycle. The dauntless hero who must look to the earth to survive, he is the most misunderstood and eccentric of all the signs. Outwardly, he is the epitome of self-assurance, but at heart, he could be conservative and old-fashioned. Rooster-born men are attractive, even dashingly handsome. This princely fowl is radiant and carries himself impeccably. You won’t find Michael slouching, he struts his stuff with dignity. Even the shyest member of the Rooster family cuts a neat, trim figure and maintains a special bearing wherever they go.
Michael has many outstanding qualities; he is sharp, neat, precise, organized, decisive, upright, alert and can be most direct. Michael is an outstanding performer and shines when he’s the center of attention. Tremendously imposing as a personality, he could well pursue any career that exposes him to the public eye - in fact, he did, with phenomenal success. Michael is charming, witty and amusing and is adroit at expressing himself both in speech and in writing. He is well-versed and prepared for any subject to be discussed. If anyone intended on challenging him on a controversial issue, they would have to be ready to fight long and hard - Michael had amazing stamina, did his homework and could wear his opposition out.
When he was negative, he could be opinionated and too abrasive. In his mind, he is 100% right. For all his poise, however, Michael wasn’t always that sure of himself. Michael could definitely handle money. He was just fascinated by accounting, sorting out finances and generally guarding the cash box. He would budget everything he could get his hands on and that would include his time, your time, the mailman’s time, company time, ad infinitum. Even when he was young he was most likely elected Treasurer of his class. He handled his pennies wisely.
Michael’s key word was service and he never disappointed even the greatest expectations. Actually, the Chinese character for the Rooster is “Ji” which simply means Chicken. But since Michael will do anything but “chicken” out of a situation, he has been respectfully addressed as the Rooster. Besides, the Rooster’s personality really enhances and dominates that of the entire chicken family. If there were to be an ad in tomorrow’s paper for a “Superman with Fine Fiscal Abilities,” you could be sure that Michael would be well qualified for the job.
The Rooster is the sign of the collector, too, and he loves difficult assignments. But he is an explicit person and needs a specific plan of action. Michael has a certain tendency for controversy. This may be because of the mental exercise it provides him. People should understand, as difficult as it may sound, that there is nothing personal in his motives; he just likes the game. And while he is knowledgeable and worldly about everything else, it should also be noted that Michael could be puritanical about sex and affairs of the heart.
Michael is a sharp dresser and always attracts attention; but he does have occasions where he over decorates his home, his office and even himself. He is also very impressed with awards of all kinds, medals and honorary titles. Every Rooster tries to win at least one award or have one professional title to their credit. Being born at night, Michael is very serious, self-contained and, at times, uncommunicative. As a Rooster, this could make him doubly eccentric, bookwormish, aloof or insulated in his quest for perfection. All Roosters are perfectionists in one form or another. They have a sharp eye for details mixed with theoretical flights of fancy.
Michael has a scientific mind and sometimes has difficulty understanding why other people cannot exist by fixed formulas as he does at times. Yet for any faults and interfering, Michael is sincere in his desire to help others and means well in all his endeavors. Oddly enough, while he can be practical about difficult matters, Michael can also be very unreasonable and difficult over simple things. But it would be useless standing between him and his goals. He is the dauntless knight, who recovering at a moment’s notice, will go off chasing another rainbow.
Michael is brave and chivalrous under stress; but he can carry his heroism a bit beyond what is required. Every Rooster is a reputable worker. They know how to please their bosses, who in turn, are impressed by their sharp intellect and efficiency. Strange thing about Roosters, they find success and money in the most common places. As the Chinese put it, “Chickens can find food even in the hardest ground with their sturdy beaks and claws.” In fact, the Rooster can literally dig up gold from his own backyard. But wherever he goes, he is meticulous and competent enough to have everything operating smoothly in no time at all.
Though he hid them well, Michael’s emotions would swing high and low. He was plagued by an activity-oriented and inquisitive mind. His probing ways would keep him chained to his objectives. And if he set out to prove a point, he didn’t leave a single stone unturned. He would have made an excellent investigator since there’s a bit of Sherlock Holmes in every Rooster. With his many administrative abilities and natural passion for work, Michael started out young and was successful early in life.
A good provider, Michael was wonderful to his family and would indulge them anything as long as his No. 1 spot was not usurped. He truly enjoyed having a large family of origin since he needed a cheering squad to bring out the best in him. No matter what happens, it is a good thing that Michael is a tireless worker, for he will have to work his way through life. Things didn’t just fall into his lap. He was also the intrepid dreamer, full of ambition and goodwill. Michael never failed to make an impression on people.
Still, Michael was incredibly secure with both feet anchored deep in the ground. But since he tended to be virtuously eccentric, he could puzzle people with his unlikely preferences and perfectionism. A clear and logical thinker, he excelled at mental tasks. He was the perpetual student, and on virtually any subject, you could put your encyclopedia away and trust him to be the absolute authority. A walking library of facts, Michael was seldom wrong and would meticulously register every bit of information for the benefit of posterity. A lover of charts and graphs, he was incurably performance oriented. Michael was able to speak his mind with matter-of-fact candor and could get to the point without much ado or fear of reprisals. He was a finger snapping, hustle-bustle soul - full of life, good intentions, organizational talent and practical aspirations.
