Michael & the Elements

We’ll begin Michael’s Chinese Horoscope with the Elements found in his chart. In Chinese Astrology there are five elements: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth. The ideal, of course, is to have all five elements in your chart for complete balance. The reality is that most people have too many of one element, and not enough, or none at all of other elements. For this there are remedies. The elements in Michael’s chart are as follows:

Year Element - 1958 - Earth

Animal Element - Dog - Metal

Hour Element - Rat - Water

Month Element - Rooster - Metal

Country Element - (USA) Monkey - Metal

From the above, we can see that Michael has an abundance of Metal in his chart; so when he told people he was tough on the inside, he meant it! We can also see that both Wood and Fire are lacking in his chart. To add Wood to his life, Michael could have carried a wooden charm or beads or had plants in his home. To add Fire to his life, he could have used lights, candles or other forms of electricity, or carried a small mirror on his person as mirrors reflect sunlight and can produce Fire, or have precious stones with red or orange colors on his person.

Michael, being born in 1958 and under the influence of Earth, was more concerned with functional and practical aspirations. He had excellent deductive powers and liked solid and reliable pursuits on which to expend his energy. With his foresight and capacity for organization, he was an effective planner and administrator. He put whatever resources he found to optimum use and was wise and prudent in financial affairs as well as holding on to his own money. He was intelligent and most objective in directing others toward realizing well-plotted goals.

He was generally enterprising in a serious and methodical manner and could organize and run any business that required a firm hand. He was an excellent manager and good at reinforcing or building a solid foundation for any industry, trade or government. Michael substantiated his findings and had sound reasons for everything he did. While he may have moved slowly at times, he proceeded toward good and lasting results. Michael liked to keep things in their proper perspective and was conservative by nature. He rarely exaggerated his findings, calculations and expectations.

He gave his undiluted advice and presented the true picture of a situation without any retouching, modifications or frills. He could always be expected to shoulder his responsibilities admirably and could discipline himself. Michael was an impartial dispenser of sound advice and justice. An efficient and constructive thinker, he moved slowly at times and with good purpose. He was faithful to his beliefs but would bow to the majority rule. Vigilant and careful, he appreciated the proper use of money and power and had a fixed scale of values from which he seldom deviated.

Quiet, kind-hearted but secretive, he understood how to inspire others and instruct them wisely. Yet because of his high moral standards and unfailing idealism, he tended to over perform and may have demanded excessive dedication and loyalty from others. A good fighter and an equally good survivor, Michael was practical and less sentimental. He was realistic and valued his individualism and self-respect and spoke without reserve straight from his heart. He did not abuse powers bestowed on him and was able to delegate duties with a keen insight into other people’s potentials. He was never totally suppressed by defeat nor overconfident in victory.

Michael, being born in the Year of the Dog, and controlled by the Metal element was guided by strong feelings and pursued his objectives with intensity and little hesitation. Sustained by his ambition, he was capable of a prolonged effort to get what he wanted. He was very success-oriented and unwavering in his determination. He was not easily swayed or influenced to change course once he had decided on it, even by hardships, drawbacks and initial failures. But he did have trouble letting go when situations were no longer feasible and could be unreasonably stubborn and inadaptable in his fixity of mind at times.

Michael preferred to sort out and solve his problems alone and did not appreciate any interference or unsolicited assistance. He mapped out his own destiny, cleared his own paths and visualized his own goals without outside help. Although he may have looked inflexible and coldly self-reliant, Michael, being ruled by Metal, could conduct electricity; his strong impulses and generative powers were felt by all he came in contact with, thereby brining about the changes and transformations he desired.

Michael had strong monetary and accumulative instincts and used these traits to support his independent spirit and his strong taste for luxury, opulence and power. To have been totally effective, however, Michael would have been wise to learn how to compromise and not be overly insistent on always having his way. There were times when he was unbending and opinionated and broke off a good relationship because others did not heed his wishes or conform readily to his will.

Michael was unwavering in his convictions and highly critical of every infraction of the law according to his own interpretation. However, his principles were of the highest kind and fundamentally he was noble and charitable. He gave himself to a lifetime of selfless dedication to his fans as objects worthy of his devotion; but he was also searching for someone to dedicate his life to. Yet he could be ruthless when aroused and pursued his enemies until they were annihilated.

Michael exercised strong mental discipline over himself and took things very seriously - especially when they concerned the affairs of his heart or his country. Michael’s loyalty was unquestionable and he was never indecisive; he would pick a side and never desert his affiliations.

Metal is also found in Michael’s month sign, the Rooster. As such, Michael was a practical, exacting and industrious person with a flair for captivating others with his brilliant powers of deduction. Investigative, optimistic and idealistic, he had a passionate attitude toward work. Metal made him opinionated and headstrong and he had a strong need for importance and fame. He could be fastidious about his image and could not subscribe to the viewpoints of others readily. He had the gift of oratory, which he sometimes used to drown out the voices of his opponents.

Although he was factual and reasonable, he found it hard to be totally impartial when his ego was directly challenged. Over rationalizing and analyzing would be disastrous for Michael, and when he was in a negative frame of mind, he subjected everything - even a budding romance - to a routine clinical examination. He needed to curb his urge to overkill at times. Still, Michael could be inhibited with his emotions despite his outward bravado. He insisted on order in his life and demanded hygienic conditions in his surroundings. But while Michael was attracted to material wealth, he was also concerned about social reforms. He felt committed to extend his services and know-how to all humanity and found fulfillment in solving social problems or instigating reforms for the advancement of mankind.

Metal is also found in Michael’s country of birth, the USA, which is governed by the animal sign of the Monkey. This is the fighting Monkey. Strong, sophisticated and independent, Michael had an irrepressible urge for financial security. Capable of making wise investments, he preferred to run his own business. He was consistent and was able to hold on to his savings if he didn’t speculate in risky ventures. Metal made him ardent and demonstrative in his affections. He had high aspirations and may have appeared to be over dramatic at times in his behavior; but he was always sincere.

Characterized by a lively disposition, Michael could be passionate, warm, positive, and very convincing. He could sell anything conceivable and his designs were both aesthetic and useful. Michael was an excellent trend setter. When he was negative, he could be too analytical, self-conscious and proud. His loyalties were few; but he was hard working and practical, shunning assistance from others and quite able to take care of his own interests in his own fashion.

The Hour of the Rat, when Michael was born, is influenced by Water. Being born during the hour controlled by Water, Michael had a better than average ability to communicate and to advance his ideas by influencing the thoughts of others. Other people’s minds were his vessels and helped to carry his creative ideas into positive action. He was basically ruled by sympathetic vibrations and conveyed his feelings and emotions well. He had a knack for noticing things that would become important and could accurately gauge future potentials. He set things into the orbit he desired by prodding and utilizing the talents and resources of others. Yet he did so in an unobtrusive manner and never made others feel they were being imposed upon.

In this manner, like his element, Water, he was able to wear away the strongest rocks of opposition by his silent but constant efforts. Because he preferred infiltrating to dominating, Michael knew how, when and whom to approach on a given subject. He had the talent for making people desire what he, himself, desired, thus achieving his goals in a sure but indirect way. He liked to propel instead of compel others into motion. Because of his basic awareness and flexibility, Michael was fluid like Water and others would have been wise to have been guided by his intuitions.

Michael was concerned with mental exercise, the intricacies of the thinking process. His insight was excellent and he related well to people at all levels. He was respected and able to promote his talents because of his accommodating and understanding nature. He was traditional and conservative in his behavior, preferring to swim with the tide rather than fight it. Still, he was shrewd. He manifested all the qualities needed to wield influence in areas he deemed important. He was aware of other people’s likes and dislikes and knew how to please those in a position to help him. However, there were times when he was not too discriminating and spoke to anyone who would listen to him which tended to get him into trouble. Drawn to the acquisition of knowledge and the written word, and being adept at putting down his thoughts on paper, Michael worked to further his own education and never wanted to stop learning.
